Topic of the week: DSL vs. Cable - The Bottom Line

Connection Speed and Bandwidth are generally the most important considerations when comparing Internet providers. Today’s cable modem capabilities generally surpass DSL speeds by a wide margin. In addition, you can also receive Cable TV service with your cable provider:

"A huge amount of TV is available on a Basic Cable service, the new TV’s now have an NTSC (Analog), ATSC (Digital), QAM (Cable) tuners built-in, receiving a wide range of broadcasts for little cost."

A good deal, BUT ...

Cable will theoretically run faster than DSL, but several technical and business reasons can reduce or even eliminate this advantage.

Bottom Line - because of these variances DSL and the cable modem might have the advantage at different times. An overview of both technologies will clearly show the advantages and disadvantages of both.
